Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Momoko's Team Chapter 3

The next morning, Momoko and Rook woke up before everyone else and waited in the common room. “I hope today will be better,” Rook said. “I have a feeling that we can only get better from there.”

“Really?” Momoko asked. “Then what will we be assigned to today?” Rook shrugged his shoulders as the other recruits joined them. “You two are some kind of eager,” Bidoof, another recent recruit said. “Ah reckon y’all joined for the exact same reason?”

“If you want to be a great explorer as well, then you have ‘reckoned’ correctly,” Rook said. Chatot caught notice of them. “Well, Bidoof, I’ve seen you have gotten familiar with our two newest recruits,” he said. “Then today you will be guiding them around the guild and Treasure Town. Are we clear?”

“As clear as a winter freeze back in Bibarel country,” Bidoof said. “Gosh, Ah’m overjoyed! Ah hope y’all are ready for the grand tour!” He pointed towards the hallway. “That there hall leads back to y’all’s room and everyone else’s rooms, as Ah am sure you know. As well as the other hall leading to the mess hall.” He led them upstairs. “This floor has the Job and Outlaw Notice Boards. Y’all’ll be picking from the Outlaw Notice today, but we’ll get back to that later. Now on to Treasure Town!”

They got into Treasure Town. “I can tell you about Treasure Town, Miss Momoko,” Rook said. “That building run by Duskull is Duskull Bank. We can store our money there if we need too. These three other shops, even though they are closed right now, are Electivire Link Shop, Chansey’s Daycare, and Marowak Dojo. There is more on the other side of the bridge.” They crossed the bridge to the other shops. “These shops are Kecleon Market, Kangaskhan Storage, and Xatu’s Appraisal. Xatu is not in today, but once he is, I would like to go by there.”

“Gosh, Rook, you sure do know town like the back of your paw!” Bidoof said. “Y’all do your shopping, I’ll wait back at the guild to help you choose a shady villain to catch.” As soon as Bidoof left, Rook and Momoko walked up to the counter of Kecleon Market, where the Kecleon Brothers waited for a customer. “Hello there!” Green said. “You must be the children who joined the guild! If you two little ones need anything, Purple and I are here to help!”

“Indeed!” Purple said. “As a welcome gift, here’s an Oran Berry, a Pecha Berry, and a Rawst Berry. Free of Charge!” Rook placed the berries into their treasure bag. “Thank you. Do you have anything else we can use?” he asked.

“We have a great deal on Reviver seeds! Buy two, get a free Max Elixir! Only 1600 Poke!” Green said.

“We’ll take that,” Momoko said, paying with the money she and Rook had gathered.

“Thank you for your patronage,” Purple said. “We appreciated such valued customers!”

“Misters Kecleon!” a tiny voice cried out. Rook and Momoko looked around to see a Marill near their age and a younger Azurill run up to a counter. “Aw, hello little friends!” Green said. “What do you need today?”

“One apple please,” Marill said, paying the 25 Poke. He was given a bag that held the apple and he left with his younger brother. “Those two children are brothers. Their mother had recently fallen ill so they have been doing any shopping they need,” Purple said. “To step up to such responsibilities so young is heartwarming.” Azurill ran back to them. “Misters Kecleon! We didn’t pay for 2 apples!” he said.

“That is a gift from the both of us for you and Marill to share,” Green said. Azurill smiled and started off again, only to trip and drop the spare apple. Momoko picked it up and dusted it off before giving it to Azurill again. “Thank you, miss!” he said. Momoko began to feel dizzy. “What’s going on?” she asked. She suddenly saw a flash to Azurill calling for help. “Miss, are you okay?” he asked.

“Oh, I’m fine,” she said. “Run along now, back to your brother.”

“Okay! Thank you again!”

“They remind me of my sisters back at home,” Rook said with a smile. “Momoko, are you okay?”

“Rook, did you hear a scream just a bit ago?”

“A scream? No, not in the least,” Rook said. “Mr. Purple and Mr. Green, did either of you hear any screaming?”

“Why no,” Green said. “We haven’t heard anything like that.”

“You must have imagined it, dear,” Purple said.

“Oh, okay,” she said. “Let’s head back, Rook.”

They began to walk back to the guild when they saw Marill and Azurill talking with a Drowzee. “What’s going on?” Momoko asked.

“Oh, hello! Mr. Drowzee here said that he found a toy of ours that went missing,” Marill said. “And he’s going to help us get it back!”

“But of course,” Drowzee said. “To turn a blind eye to children in need would be cruel. I felt it was necessary. Come now, children, I will guide you to your lost item.” As they left, Drowzee bumped into Momoko by accident. “Oh, pardon me, miss.” Momoko began to feel dizzy again. She had another vision, this time of Drowzee threatening Azurill. As soon as her vision ended, Rook saw the look on her face. “Momoko?” he asked.

“Rook, I have a bad feeling,” she said. “Let’s get back to the guild.” They met up with Bidoof at the Outlaw Notice Board. “Y’all took quite a bit there,” Bidoof said. “Ready to pick an outlaw?”

Momoko looked at the board and froze. “Are you okay, Miss Momoko?” Bidoof said. “It ain’t all that chilly in here.”

“Rook, look!” she said. “On the top, to the left. It’s Drowzee! He’s a wanted outlaw!” She grabbed his paw and ran out the guild. “Marill!” she shouted upon seeing him. “Where’s Azurill?”

“He and Drowzee went towards Mt. Bristle to look for our lost toy, but they got further and further away, I couldn’t keep up,” he said.

“Stay here,” Rook said. “Momoko and I will bring him back.”

They ran to Mt. Bristle, ascending the mountain until they got to Drowzee and Azurill. “If you keep on being difficult, it will mean trouble for you!” Drowzee said.

“H-h-h-help!” Azurill screamed.

“Stop right there!” Momoko shouted.

“You are under arrest. Appendages in the air,” Rook added. Drowzee lifted his hands into the air, only to see Momoko begin to shudder. “Ha! You’re going to arrest me? I’ve never seen a sorrier bunch! Yea, I’m a wanted criminal,” Drowzee said. “Can you two bring me to justice?” He attacked Rook, knocking him back. “Rook!” she shouted. “That’s IT!” She ran at Drowzee, biting onto him and not letting go. Drowzee tried to shake her off, but ran into a wall, knocking him out. “That takes care of that!” she said.

“Thank you so much for saving Azurill!” Marill said when they reunited the two. “I can’t thank you enough!”

“It was so scary!” Azurill said. “Thank you, Rook and Momoko!”

After they left, Officer Magnezone walked up to the two of them. “We’ve been after this crook for weeks! To think that two children will bring him in… Anyway, here’s the bounty, or at least your share,” he said. They received 300 Poke, a Max Elixir, and a Reviver seed.

That night, Rook took Momoko aside. “How did you know about Drowzee?” he asked. “I have to know.”

“Well,” she said, “I just saw it in this weird vision. When I dusted off that apple and when Drowzee bumped into me, I got dizzy and then saw the entire thing play out.”

“That is unusual,” Rook said, “and difficult to believe.”

“But it’s the truth!”

“I believe you, but it still sounds odd. Maybe it has something to do with who you are. Maybe you are a medium or a seer.”

“Could be. I hope so. Because being a medium would be awesome! We’ll trying and find out more in the morning. Goodnight Rook."

Meanwhile, in Treeshroud Forest, a mysterious Pokemon named Grovyle approached the Time Gear Shrine in the deepest part of the woods. "Finally, a Time Gear! I have to hurry and gather all of them. To save the world."
